This album is the culmination of my pessimism. I don't think it's unfounded, considering we seem to live through back-to-back crises.
We live in times of overwhelming amounts of content to consume, rising prices, and censorship of dangerous misinformation. Divisive clickbait headlines, technology developed to hack our neurochemistry/cognitive biases and unquestionable truths. It feels like the very people that want us to eat less meat do not taste their own medicine. Lots of things are being done in the name of some greater good but it's difficult to distinguish between actions taken as influenced by this fear mongering or based on grounded collective concern.
I just wanted to draw into question whether the people at the top of the command chain genuinely have our best interest in mind when they divide us into what feels like a red team vs blue team mentality. Where people's struggles are rated and compared on a tier list based on their sex, race and ability from which they compete for the virtue of who is the most oppressed. All this instead of banding together and recognising these issues as stemming primarily from a class divide that's more realistically between the corporate-lobbyist profit-driven wealth-hoarding 0.1% and the 99.9%.
It's unfortunate because at the same time we have everything delivered to our doorstep and access to knowledge like never before. Sex and food is everywhere and it's never been easier to have such variety. Distractions like rapstar celebrity chefs, Tiktok Tinder dates and pharmaceutical drug cocktails are outright encouraged by multitudes of media. There are 500 chip flavours and 15 steaming services but house ownership is becoming more difficult, choice for insurance providers is dwindling and education becomes more streamlined, assimilating once unique languages, cultures and world views into one.
For me, it all tangles together into one wicked world-wide web - it's worth talking about it, so we can atleast say 'I got your back' to eachother if it comes to crunch time.
Of course, the future will be brighter, everything returns to the source and every empire has it's downfall.
